Despite the rising demand for them in recent years, pickups still represent one of the most affordable segments of the hobby (for now, anyway). This 1949 Ford F-1 Pickup for sale on Hemmings.com has reportedly seen just four owners and 80,000 miles since leaving the assembly line, and once had the honor of serving as a restoration project for high school auto shop students. The truck comes with Ford’s 239-cu.in. flathead V-8 engine and a three-speed transmission, and it looks like some documentation from the truck’s history is included in the sale as well. Though its condition is unspecified, the truck appears to be a sound driver, or possible candidate for restoration. From the seller’s description:
1949 Ford F1 pickup with 239 flathead V-8 3 speed on the floor. I am the 4th owner of this Ford F1 pickup. The 2nd owner was an auto shop teacher, and over many years, he and his students worked on restoring this F1. Soon after it was completed the auto shop teacher, unfortunately went through a divorce and was forced to sell his treasured pickup, which he had spent so much time and effort on. The 3rd owner was a doctor, which owned this F1 for 15 years. When he purchased this vehicle from the 2nd owner he was living in Rome, NY. After 3 years of driving it on weekend and such he moved his practice to Boston. The truck remained in NY inside his fathers garage on jack stands, so they could start it up and run it regularly. After owning it for 15 years , but not being able to enjoy driving it , he decided to sell the Ford F1 to me.
